Harry Potter vs Wizard of Oz!

You know the last few years, we have all been hearing about how Harry Potter has influenced the minds of young children into becoming witches and wizards. It's teaching them to follow the teachings of Wicca, or what might most people call witches, or more outright called Paganism! Many Christian leaders preach against the books and movies that are made of this young wizard because they feel it will drive them away from fundamental christian beliefs. Now I respect their beliefs but that doesn't mean I have to agree with this one. It's actually very funny and hypocritical if you ask me! You know why? Because if they have to look at the influence "Harry Potter" has on children....then how come they aren't focusing Disney, the fairy tales, and even looking at one of the greatest movies ever made....WIZARD OF OZ.
I focus on Wizard of Oz to make my point that it has the fantasy world of Oz, the witches, and flying monkeys! How come no one argues about that? Because it was in our grandparents time and look how well they turned out! As for Disney....does anybody find it unusal that we tend to worship a giant mouse!!!! He...well Disney....had his hands into almost everything in all our lives! Our parents were the first to be so called "brainwashed" by this guy and see how well they turned out! Well, actually, if anybody knows my father knows that he loves Disney and wants to move down there. But he still turned out to be well rounded and sane!!!
Anyway my point is that "Harry Potter" is only a cultural phase for children. They are young and amazed by the adventures of this young lad. It gives them something to look towards to in these times of terrorism, even though they don't understand it. As I look at it, our grandparents had "Wizard of Oz", our parents had Disney, our generation grew up on Saturday morning cartoons.....we all turned out fine. Let this generation have Harry Potter, because when they do grown up, see what kind of world they have to live in!
