Walking down memory lane!

You know the worst thing about packing is? Nostalgia! Really....seriously! As you are packing all your stuff, you tend to find old pictures, letters, momentos of all the stuff you are leaving behind. I was packing all my books that I have and I found an old notebook from college that I had that had a bunch of phone numbers of friends that I had and other people that I barely got to know. There's a number for a girl that I had a crush on in one my classes. I know I can't call because I know she moved on. I found a picture of a birthday cake that had the names of my friend Chau (who now lives in California) and Marisol (who I lost touch with after graduating in college). Just the other night, I was showing some old movies (Hijinxs I and II) to some friends and I began to wish for the old times. BTW Ryan....I finally got the String Joke....after 4 years! I think I didn't hear the punch line at the time though.

I'm almost finished with the house. We finished putting in the wood floors on Monday and put in the hanging microwave. The electricity is in and the lights are on. Now just need to do touch ups and paint a little bit more inside. Need to finish the outside front porch and get the water running. However, my father is a bit of a downer when he told me that I might not be able to really move in until JULY!!!! Dammit....why not???? Because of rules and regulations, that's why. Something to do with testing the water or something or another that takes too much damn time.

On Sunday, I went hiking with some friends on the Blue Ridge Parkway. What a nice and beautiful day it was! We hiked along one trial called White Rocks Falls. I actually went camping there last year with a couple of friends from Northern Virginia. I found the place that we camped at and I was disappointed to find that it was covered over with all kinds of growth. We eventually got to the falls which were wonderful. When I went last year, it was a drought so not alot of water flowing. This time though, the water was pounding strongly along the falls. Round trip of the hike was about 3 miles, I think!

I just say for the record....NOSTALGIA FUCKING SUCKS!!!!!

By the way....I'm going tomorrow to get my teeth cleaned. Why would I add this. Well, apparently there is a gorgeous and single blonde that works in the office across the hall from my dentist. I figured I go in an introduce myself to her.....maybe try to sweep her off her feet with my charming personality and good looks (off in the background, I can hear somebody laughing at this!). Wish me luck anyway!

UPDATE

It's been a while since my last entry. I've been pretty busy lately with the house as well as softball. Let's see....as of last Saturday, I had about 90% of the back deck on, kitchen and bathroom cabinets in, almost everything is painted (with the exceptions of a few coats of paint on the trim and the skylight). All that really needs to be finished on the inside of the house is putting the wood floors in. The kitchen is gorgeous.....the cabinets and the bar look great! I've been going up almost every other night after work during the week to work on it. I also got my phone number and satellite television ordered which should be set on June 8th. On June 14th, I should sign all the papers to close!!!! July 10th.....PARTY!!!

The other nights I'm playing softball with both my company and church. Both teams are as different as night and day. My company softball team (which is all guys) is currently 1 and 5, while my church team is perfect right now with a record of 3 and 0. I get the added bonus of having to play with my ex-girlfriend, Loreley, play on the team last Friday. Actually things are fine with us since the breakup. I actually invited her to the party that I'm having at my place on July 10th.

Things at work are pretty dramatic. A co-worker downstairs just doesn't get a clue of what she is suppose to be doing in her job. No one really likes her and she has pissed off everybody, including all of our vendors that work with my company!

I seemed to have done a big boo boo for Mother's day! I got my mom a Mother's Day card for her. When I woke up on Mother's Day, I saw her in the living room, sitting in the chair, and I go up to her, give her a kiss on the head, and say Happy Mother's Day. I left the card on the table for her. Anyway a few minutes later, she asks me where's my gift to her? Uhhhhhhhh.....SHIT!!! All I could say is I didn't know what to get her. Well, sufficite to say, she was pissed. I could have offered to take her out to dinner but we have been so busy with the house lately, I didn't really think about it. All I could do was turn around and head downstairs. A few minutes later, my father came down and asked why I made mom mad. I told her what happened and he told me I did a stupid thing. He goes on to tell me there are three days that I never forget about mom.....her birthday, Christmas and Mother's day!
Well, we all go to church together that morning. AFter church, we went to Sam's club. While there, I decided to buy her some pre-planted rose bushes. When I gave them to her, it made her happy! Well, that's what she said....but I know she will remember this!
