I just wanted to wish everybody a very Happy Thanksgiving! Be careful when travelling off to your relative's place for dinner! Be warm, be happy, and eat a lot!

Just when you thought t.v was safe, they made a show out of the B-movie,Tremors. Now if you saw these movies, you know it's one of the best B-movies made!!! Giant worms that attack you from beneath the ground, then can change into smaller creatures that see by body heat!!! I know they are sappy but I can't help but like them! The first Tremors movie starred Kevin Bacon! One of his better films I must say!!! HEHE! I have it on DVD, and I always watch it when it comes on television....usually every couple of weeks! Call me crazy but I like the movies......I just hope I like the tv show!!!

We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it.

Home Search

I found a home the other day in Charlottesville and went by to check it out this morning! I must say, even though it could use a lot of touch ups, it's very nice! I know I would have to do some definite work on the outside, and though I haven't been inside, I see it might need it to inside. But my folks told me that they would help get it in shape if I do decide to buy it. Anyway that is drawbacks of being a home owner! By the way, for those that do know of Charlottesville, it's over on the other side of the Downtown Mall. It's not that bad of a neighborhood where's it's located. But if I do buy it and fix it up.....there will be a party at my house!!!!!

Harry Potter vs Wizard of Oz!

You know the last few years, we have all been hearing about how Harry Potter has influenced the minds of young children into becoming witches and wizards. It's teaching them to follow the teachings of Wicca, or what might most people call witches, or more outright called Paganism! Many Christian leaders preach against the books and movies that are made of this young wizard because they feel it will drive them away from fundamental christian beliefs. Now I respect their beliefs but that doesn't mean I have to agree with this one. It's actually very funny and hypocritical if you ask me! You know why? Because if they have to look at the influence "Harry Potter" has on children....then how come they aren't focusing Disney, the fairy tales, and even looking at one of the greatest movies ever made....WIZARD OF OZ.
I focus on Wizard of Oz to make my point that it has the fantasy world of Oz, the witches, and flying monkeys! How come no one argues about that? Because it was in our grandparents time and look how well they turned out! As for Disney....does anybody find it unusal that we tend to worship a giant mouse!!!! He...well Disney....had his hands into almost everything in all our lives! Our parents were the first to be so called "brainwashed" by this guy and see how well they turned out! Well, actually, if anybody knows my father knows that he loves Disney and wants to move down there. But he still turned out to be well rounded and sane!!!
Anyway my point is that "Harry Potter" is only a cultural phase for children. They are young and amazed by the adventures of this young lad. It gives them something to look towards to in these times of terrorism, even though they don't understand it. As I look at it, our grandparents had "Wizard of Oz", our parents had Disney, our generation grew up on Saturday morning cartoons.....we all turned out fine. Let this generation have Harry Potter, because when they do grown up, see what kind of world they have to live in!

The Hieny-Lick Maneuver

Well, it sounds like a joke.....but I have both a scary and funny story that involves the Hiemlich......or the more creative maneuver...Hieny-Lick!
Well, it started last weekend when I went up to my aunt's house to spend the night with my mom up there with them! We all sat down to dinner with spaghetti and salad. My mom had just sat down beside me and was eating her salad. Suddenly, she starts coughing and choking. I'm sitting there in shock not whether to believe she is just softly coughing or just plain choking! I was in shock! Finally after a few seconds, my cousin's husband, Bruno, understand what was going on and took her to the bathroom and gave her the Hiemlich manuever! He did it and she finally got the piece of cucumber that was stuck in her throat! However, that whole night we just had to laugh about it because a few of us at the table were just in shock about it and didn't know what to do!
Anyway, my parents went to church without me yesterday and when they came home, mom preceeds to tell me a funny story of what happened at Sam's Club. While they were in there, my father was eating jelly beans when he started to cough roughly. He said that he just wanted to get some water to wash it down! However, my mom sprung into action before realizing if he was really choking or coughing. She tells me she threw down her purse and her bags she was holding, went behind his back, and wrapped her arms around him in a bear hug postion, and started to do the "Hiemlich"! It's funny because if you have seen my parents, father is about a foot taller than my mom in comparison! Also just to see this is funny enough but when my mom tried to renact this, she was hilarious! She couldn't stop laughing at it. And when I asked my father about it....all he could say was that he just wanted to get some water to wash it down!
Anyway.....thank god she didn't do the "Hieny Lick" manuever!!!

The Long Weekend!

Well, it's that time of year again!!! Time for the Christmas decorations to come down from the attic! Every year, I would help my father get the tons of christmas decorations down from the attic and then help my mom set them up! Usually, throughout this process, there would be a lot of shouting and grumbling, and the occasionally cuss word here and there! I HATE IT!!!
But this year was different! We usually put up the Christmas decorations up after Thanksgiving! This time we put it up before the holiday! Also this time, my mom's sister and cousin can over to help her set of the decorations! All my dad and I had to do was bring the decorations down from the attic and put the empty boxes back up afterwards.
So on Saturday, while they were setting up the decorations, my father helped me look for homes and land. Actually, after looking at one of the houses outside the lake, we had a little accident. Nothing major but it did scare me! While we were driving down a hill, the road was slippery, we spun out of control and hit the guardrail! We just scraped along it, but didn't do much damage to the truck! I asked if we were going to tell mom about this and he told me a blunt "NO"!!!
Well, after that we drove from Fluvanna, to Louisa, up to Greene and Orange. All the houses we looked at were either too expensive or just down right trashy! I'm even looking into buying land and then build a house. However, that is also as hard to find!
Anyway, I just got back the pictures of Halloween and my costume. I will pass along the picture once I find a way to post it in my journal or just email!

Muppethouse.com

It's funny....I just wanted to share this site with yall. Some old friends created this site years ago. I just found out they have a link to my journal.....so I wanted to return the favor! Hey you guys at Muppethouse....if you are reading this...what the hell is going on over there? I can't download the pictures!!!
Anyway, actually I just found out how to post links on here!!! I know how too!!! Whoo hoo!

I just wanted to share the good news that I got. My friend Pat, who is about 3 months pregnant, sent me the sonogram pictures of the baby! It's a wonderful sight I must say! I would like to say how I am happy for her and Patrick! I hope all goes well with them and the baby.

Also, I've also been looking into buying a new home! It's a very hard search! I'm looking to buy something in the neighboring counties of Greene and Madison....just north of Charlottesville. However, with my finance's....I'm looking for something less than 90 thousand....which I know is extremely hard to do for something that is decent! Well, I keep looking until something shows up...eventually!

IT'S A LONG WEEK!

It's been a long week for me so far! I've been battling a flu/cold since Saturday....which is what I don't know and I don't really care! This whole week, it's been a roller coaster in feeling good and then bad, and then good and bad again! Actually I'm feeling better today....just a bit tired.

My Supervisor, Jason, went to Las Vegas this week for some automotive product show out there. I want to go to Vegas some day! My friend Jennifer eloped there last year, and my parents went there for their 25th wedding anniversery! It's funny, I watch The Real World, which is in Las Vegas at the moment. Man, talk about the sin that goes on there! I know some day I go there, but not the reasons you think! I might go and elope there!!!

Lately, I've been buying up so many DVD's lately. Yesterday, I bought Spiderman and Babylon 5: Season 1. I have over 100 dvd's in my collection now! I'm getting some more soon because my aunt works at Technicolor.....which is moving out of Charlottesville.....and she can get me dvd's at a very cheap price. She brought over a list that they had the other night and my parents and I all went over the movies that we wanted to buy for Christmas. I bought five dvd's right away, but I made a list of movies that my mom is getting for me for both my birthday and Christmas! I know, it takes the fun out of the mystery when you do that. But when they are at the low price of 8 dollars a piece, who could pass that up!!! If I remember correctly, there was another 15 that I'm going to get from her, and other members of my family from that lists as gifts! However, the dvd's are not going to stop there!!!! I'm going to buy Star Wars: Episode 2 next week when it comes out, The Lord of the Rings: The Extended Version which I already have one copy but it's just the one that came out a month ago. I'm also getting Star Trek: The Next Generation seasons 5, 6, and 7 when they come out and I'm going to buy the Back to the Future Trilogy when it comes out later this year. I know I'm going to spend or have spent over 500 dollars on all these....but it's worth it!!!

I've also beening keeping up with old friends and new ones! I miss my friends up in Northern Virginia, including the Essex Goddesses! I've noticed though that they have been having problems though. I hope it's nothing serious! That's what I hate about being so far away from them.....I really feel like I can't be a friend to them. I'm also glad to know that I am making a new friend, Laura Cruz, who is friends with one of the Essex Goddesses, Rachel. I told Rachel any friend of hers is a friend of mine. I hope that the other Essex Goddesses think that too. I'm just in so much of a mood to meet new people lately.
I've also been meeting and making new friends through journals. There are two that I like to know about....they are Janeblog and Ms. Morgan! I've been reading Janeblog through a link on a friends Journal! What's funny is that Jane....or Katie, which is her name....actually lives here in Charlottesville. She seems to be of an intellectual at UVa here, but seems really cool when I'm reading her journal. The other...MsMorgan.....aka SeXyLiPs I presume....seems to live on the West Coast. However, I don't mind making friends from the other coast. Kind of puts a damper on meeting her though! We'll have to see what happens!

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE!

"A Minnonite female driving a Dodge Viper with a big black guy in the passenger seat!"

That was the story that my co-worker told me. She said she saw this when she went up on Skyline Drive this weekend! I couldn't believe the story myself! It's just so funny to think a Minnonite was doing this. If you aren't sure what a Minnonite....they are like the Amish but they do believe in using Technology. They look and seem so simple if you knew what they look like. The women wear their simple blue and pink dresses with the white cap on their head. You know what I was talking about if you saw them! They also tend to be close to other Minnonites and not outside of that culture! Well, that's what I heard anyway! I don't know if it's completely true!

So can you actually picture that in your head????
